My Year in Travel: 2019

Happy Holidays fellow-travel lovers! Another year has flown by in the blink of an eye and it has been another fantastic year full of travel, new achievements and great memories.

I'm very grateful to have explored more of my own country, New Zealand, to have spent a month travelling in Europe during their summer and another month working in tropical Fiji.

It's that time of the year where I like to reflect on my top travel memories, so here are my favourite photos from significant trips throughout 2019. Let's wind back!

1. Fiji

My first overseas adventure of the year was to Fiji for the first time in March. My husband and I loved our holiday there and it lead to an incredible work opportunity half a year later!

2. North Island, NZ with Stray

In April, I travelled again with my fave Kiwi travel company, Stray, this time joining them on their epic North Island tour including going right to the very top, surfing in Raglan and doing the incredible Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

3. Wellington, NZ

I visited Wellington at least three times in 2019 but in May I worked with the Wellington Tourism Board and had an epic long weekend exploring lesser-known spots and stayed at the stunning QT Hotel.

4. Castlepoint, NZ

Lighthouse adventures are always a good idea and I would have to say Castlepoint Lighthouse on the east coast of the North Island is now one of my favourites!

5. South Island, NZ with JUCY World

In June, I collaborated with JUCY World again, this time doing an epic winter road trip in the remote south-west coast of the South Island. It was a fun adventure that I shared with my sister, finishing up in Queenstown and also visiting Milford Sound.

6. Doha, Qatar

In July, I stopped over in Doha on my way to the UK and highly enjoyed my 48-hours there! It's such a fascinating city and a great place to layover in (especially after enduring the longest flight in the world!).

7. Edinburgh

I spent two fantastic weeks in Scotland, spending time visiting family who live near Edinburgh. I was there during the famous Fringe Fest and Military Tattoo which I highly enjoyed.

8. The Highlands, Scotland

One of my absolute favourite travel memories of the year was doing a Highlands road trip. The stunning scenery in the Isle of Skye, in particular, absolutely blew me away.

9. Crete

In August, I spent a week on Greece's largest island, Crete, in Heraklion and Agia Pelagia. It was beautiful, hot and sunny every day and I loved exploring the ancient city of Knossos.

10. Athens

I loved revisiting the capital of Greece, enjoying all of the ancient temple ruins, staying at the luxurious AthensWas Hotel and then visiting the cute coastal town of Nafplio.

11. West Coast, NZ

In September, I worked with the West Coast Tourism Board and spent an incredible week doing a road trip in the lesser-known northern area.

12. Mt Ruapehu, NZ

I finally got to make the most of my annual season pass at my favourite snowy mountain, Mount Ruapehu in the central North Island. I did a few trips there, most of the time meeting up with my sister which was fun.

13. Back to Fiji!

My final big adventure for the year was in November where I spent a month working in Fiji, hopping between three stunning resorts in the Yasawa Islands. Read more about my time there here.
