Over the past ten years of travel, I’ve stayed in everything from noisy hostels and funky Airbnbs to boutique hideaways and five-star resorts. I’ve always been more of a budget-conscious, best-deal kind of girl, and for many years that meant simple stays with just the basics. But through this blog, I’ve been lucky enough to experience some truly incredible hotels - each one unique, memorable, and a little taste of luxury that I’ve come to really appreciate. Honestly, who doesn’t love a plush bed, a dreamy view, and amazing service?

Bali 2018 Photo Diary
It's been some time since I've written anything personal here and updated you on my latest wanderings. I've been super busy for the last 6 weeks, travelling New Zealand's South Island with Stray and I've just returned from a relaxing holiday in Bali.

The BEST week in Bali | Travel Diary
My four best friends and two of their partners from New Zealand met me in Bali and we all had the greatest week ever! We were celebrating a milestone birthday for Angela, plus we all wanted to holiday together again as it had been six months since our last trip to Rarotonga!
Here are a few favourites of the million photos I took and snippets of what we got up to in a fun-filled week:

Best Places to Eat & Drink near Seminyak, Bali
One of my absolute favourite things about exploring a new country and culture is trying the local cuisine. I've had the pleasure of visiting Indonesia's most popular island twice (and will be going back for the third time in May) and I can't get enough of the rich and bold flavours of Indonesian food.
I've previously written a Bali Travel Guide & Tips post if you're heading there for the first time yourself and would like more information on Bali.
This post is specific to places near Seminyak as that is where I have spent the most time and where the majority of my favourites happen to be. I have only spent two full days in Ubud and less than that in the Canggu, Uluwatu and Nusa Dua areas.

BALI | Travel Guide & Tips
(Note: I first wrote this guide in 2017, and it has been refreshed in 2025).
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to visit this incredible Island of the Gods five different times and experience Bali in so many different ways - from romantic couples trips, to a fun getaway with friends, a solo adventure, and even a family holiday with a toddler. Each time has shown me a different side of this incredible island, and I fall a little more in love with it every visit.
Whether you're dreaming of sipping cocktails by the pool, exploring temples and waterfalls, shopping in cute boutiques or eating the best Nasi Goreng of your life (or all of the above) - Bali has something for everyone.

Sublime stay at The Breezes Bali Resort & Spa

After my fiancé and I realised we were long overdue for a relaxing tropical escape, we excitedly booked our very first trip to beautiful Bali, Indonesia. We chose The Breezes in Seminyak, and it turned out to be the beginning of a love story with this hotel.
Since then, The Breezes has been renamed Blu-Zea Resort by Double-Six, and we’ve returned no fewer than five times! Whether it’s been a couples retreat, a fun friends getaway, or a family holiday with our little ones, this resort continues to be one of our absolute favourites.

Travel Diary | Bali, Indonesia 2016
I recently got back from an awesome holiday in Bali, Indonesia. It was a really spontaneous trip- we only booked 2 and a half weeks before we left which was so exciting and fun!
It was our second time there- the last time was only in November last year, but we liked it so much we couldn't wait to go back.
We had 9 nights and 8 full days and this time stayed in Legian (last time was in Seminyak).
Here is a little summary of what my fiance and I got up to while we were there:

Summer holiday: Travel packing essentials | Bali
We both love to travel and as it's mid-Winter here and my fiance has a bit of time off work, it was the perfect time for a quick getaway to unwind.
We looked into a few options like Malaysia and Thailand as well, but they were a lot more expensive in comparison and take more than 13 hours flying time to get there.
