A Perfect Stay at Hotel Indigo Berlin Alexanderplatz

Thrilled to be back in the capital of Germany, I spent four incredible nights at Hotel Indigo Berlin in Alexanderplatz, a boutique hotel inspired by its local neighbourhood in the heart of Berlin.

I could not have been more impressed by my cosy room with a view, the friendly service and amazing food. If you are wanting to stay in Alexanderplatz (which is my favourite area to stay in Berlin), then this hotel is an excellent choice.

First Impressions

Hotel Indigo Berlin is located only a few minutes walk from the bustling Alexanderplatz public square, with a large transportation hub and connections making it very easy to get to.

Being located in former East Berlin, close to where the Berlin Wall once stood, makes it ideal for visitors, as it’s well connected to most popular sights.

In the shadow of the iconic TV Tower, the neighbourhood offers countless shopping, attractions, restaurants and nightlife to suit all kinds of travellers and locals alike.

The hotel building is large and very easy to spot. Inside, the reception area is beautifully designed with a bar and restaurant attached to the left and an eloquent seating area to the right.

I was warmly greeted by the staff member at reception and the check-in process was very quick and easy. I took the elevator to the fourth floor where my standard double room was waiting for me.

The Room

I was delighted with my room. It was extremely comfortable, was the perfect size for me and it had an amazing view of the TV Tower and Alexanderplatz square. The furnishings and design of the room were very trendy and modern, with pops of colour splashing out.

The double bed was very comfortable and the overall sleep quality was excellent.
The headboard was inspired by the Berlin wall and the two lamp shades on either side and artwork to the right were inspired by Berlin’s Neptunbrunnen fountain.

Opposite the bed, set on the wall, was a large HD LCD flatscreen TV. I liked that the majority of that wall was top to floor mirrors.

There was also a small table with a rounded chair as a sort of desk area, as well as a comfortable armchair set in the corner. A complimentary welcome Bio-Tee drink was set on the table with a personalised note, which was a nice touch.

To the right of the bed in the entrance way was a slide-open double cupboard. Inside you could find a safety deposit box, a robe, a spare blanket, hairdryer, glassware, tea and coffee making facilities, a stocked mini-bar fridge, as well as space with coat hangers to hang up your clothes.

To the right was the modernly designed bathroom, with everything you could want for, including a rainfall shower, good quality toiletries and soft fluffy towels.

Other features of the room included excellent high-speed Wifi, adjustable air conditioning, daily housekeeping, dry cleaning and laundry services available and 24-hour reception and room service.

There was a little bit of street noise but they provided earplugs to counter that so it wasn't a problem.

I was more than happy with my standard double but there are also deluxe and executive rooms available.

Beyond the Room

Hotel Indigo Berlin offers many great services and facilities. There is a Business Center, a Boardroom with conference packages available, free luggage storage, tour and sightseeing ticket help, you can even buy your public transportation tickets directly from reception.

Downstairs you can find a small but adequate Fitness Centre open 24/7 with treadmills, elliptical machines, weights, a running exercise bike, punching bag and stretching area.

The elegantly designed onsite Bar Lounge 'White 5 Bar' is perfect for an evening classic cocktail or whiskey. They serve a wide range of international spirits and wines.

I particularly enjoyed their variety of red wines. Their onsite restaurant is a must-try too.

The Food

La Maison de L’ EntrecĂ´te offers excellent lunch and dinner menus, with signature dishes and a range of international specialities. Like the bar, the restaurant was wonderfully decorated and had a very pleasant atmosphere. The staff too were always very attentive and keen for a chat.

I ordered the Pilzrisotto one evening which was a creamy mushroom risotto with apricots and goat cheese and it was absolutely heavenly. Likewise, my travel companion ordered the duck with potato dumplings and couldn't stop raving about it.

A daily buffet breakfast is included in the room and has an impressive variety to cater to all kinds of tastes. There is a large selection of hot and cold options, including deli choices, fresh fruit, pancakes, cereals, baked goods and juices. The coffee was made fresh for you from a machine and was superb.

The extensive breakfast was so good I could try something new every day. I very much enjoyed it every morning and it was the perfect start to each day.

Final Thoughts

Hotel Indigo Berlin Alexanderplatz is now my go-to hotel in the city. My stay was extremely pleasant and comfortable and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. The unique neighbourhood theme and design of the hotel gives it a lot of character that many hotels and chains just lack.

The location is very convenient, being only a few minutes walk from the main shopping, restaurant and transportation hub of Alexanderplatz.

It's a perfect choice for all kinds of travellers, from business to couples to solo travellers. They have excellent and friendly customer service and the price is very reasonable for such a high-quality stay.

The superb rooms, great services and delicious food made it an absolute pleasure to stay there and I cannot wait to return again.

If you would like to see a bit more I show a small room tour in the first part of my Berlin Travel Vlog for YouTube:
